The Sales Strategy and Business Planning Lead sits on the North America eBay display ads leadership team,responsible for thought leadership, general management and execution of sales strategy, developing product line forecasting, resource productivity analysis, and partnering with cross functional groups to ensure system utilization, pricing utilization with a business growth mindset. The position also contributes to and represents Head of Sales priorities across the business organization. On the sales operations side, the position recommends tools and systems to manage selling, tracking and reporting on customer revenue and operations. The role oversees and directs sales revenue reporting and develops and implements process improvements across the sales organization.

The right candidate will be an analytical and strategic thinker with ten years of progressive growth working within sales organizations in the following capacities: sales strategy, operations and/or analyst. They must demonstrate an ability to drive action and results through the use of data; and ideally have a passion for finding insights that drive recommendations and decisions to ensure sales is focused on the right accounts, packaging/pricing and rewarding the right behaviors. This role will partner with a variety of cross functional groups within the advertising organization (Sales & Customer Operations) as well as across the core business (Legal, Finance, Analytics, Verticals & B2C) to enable knowledge sharing and transparency on the business. This role reports to the Director of Sales.


  • Manage Head of Sales priorities designed to drive the overall growth and scale for the sales functions.

  • Responsible for building forecasting models by product line, sales analysis, sales incentive planning and business health monitoring.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for sales process improvement, and roll out strategy for change. Work closely with sales & customer operations to inspect existing sales process quality and prioritize opportunities for improvement which includes understanding process bottlenecks and inconsistencies.

  • Develop and maintain sales resource productivity dashboards; vertical, product line and overall.

  • Lead internal communication briefings across Sales & Marketing to ensure business is tracking to its goals and providing appropriate updates/communications to all stakeholders.

  • Run operational reporting cadence for Sales including weekly and monthly meetings on business health metrics and revenue forecasting.

  • Partner with Finance, Marketing, Customer Operations among other groups to understand business and implement improvements.

  • Foster cross collaboration and serve as first point of contact for the sales organization across the broader business teams.

  • Develop and continuously evaluate sales performance metrics for all teams in the revenue organization.

  • Oversee sales compensation development and overall execution for timeliness and accuracy of sales comp. across entire revenue organization.

  • Oversee administration of all sales tools and identify opportunities/vendors for further analysis.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Candidate will have a minimum of 10+ years of experience in sales organizations within analyst, strategy and/or operations roles; deep understanding and experience in a digital advertising and/or retail/commerce company a plus.

  • Proven experience in a sales strategy/operations role in a hyper growth company

  • Strong analytical skillset; candidate must be able to communicate strategically and efficiently, through the use of data to drive not only insights but strong recommendations.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, to work effectively across functions in a collaborative manner.

  • Master of CRM, Excel, Keynote, Powerpoint and Analytics tools

  • Proven track record and strong references to support previous work success.

  • BA/BS degree required, advanced degree a plus.

  • Preferred location is eBay’s near SF office in Brisbane; San Jose or New York offices a possibility.
