Job Function

Reporting to the Senior Supervising Teacher, the Assistant Teacher/Research Assistant will take part in classroom activities and participate in the Center’s ongoing research initiatives. This is a 1 year position with the possibility of extension to 2 years.

Position Summary Information

Essential Duties Summary
  1. Classroom related responsibilities include:
  • Participation in all classroom activities 2 mornings & M, W, Th afternoons

  • Assist Senior Supervising Teacher with ongoing documentation of child observation

  • Work with student teachers in morning classes and as assistant teacher on the teaching team in the afternoon classes

  1. Research related responsibilities include:
  • Participate in data collection and entry

  • Code videotapes and research interviews

  • Attend research conferences

  • Research and review literature related to child development; work on preparation of manuscript drafts for publication

  1. Assist with administrative tasks and perform other duties as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Ability to work on team, and with students, parents and the public.

  • Desire to learn more about early childhood development

Required Qualification Summary
  • B.A. in Psychology, Education, or related field, or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with young children

Preferred Qualification Summary
  • Strong preference will be given to a candidate who has recently completed the year long Toddler Center seminar course as a student.

  • Prefer prior experience with research
