Reporting to the Associate Provost/Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Associate Director of Academic Advisement Initiatives is responsible for management and oversight of strategic initiatives designed to build student success. The Associate Director's responsibilities include development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of a broad range of activities in support of improved academic advisement, including:

  • Oversee the development of a strategic plan in collaboration with the Associate Provost, and develop outcome assessment plans, designing new programs while improve existing ones;

  • Develop and oversee advisement resource materials and communication campaigns, in support of the goals and principles of the Advisement 2.0 initiative;

  • Organize and facilitate ongoing training and professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to ensure current and reliable information is provided to students, as well as, build their advisement knowledge and practice

  • Prepare and support Academic Advisement reform-related planning, meetings, and public events;

  • Advance the development and use of tracking systems and data analytics, and their integration into the College's advisement dashboard;

  • Coordinate with Institutional Research (IR), designing and implementing evaluation activities designed to assess and improve the effectiveness of Advisement reform efforts;

  • Manage the development and implementation of digital badging related to advisement;

  • Manage communication of information, updates and announcements relevant to advisement-related activities;

  • Assist the Associate provost in integrating advisement initiatives into the College's Strategic Plan;

  • Manage all budgetary and assessment data pertaining to the Academic Advisement Initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced Degree preferred.

  • Five years of teaching or education administration experience preferred.

  • Substantial Student Advisement experience preferred;

  • Knowledge and familiarity with student success initiatives in higher education;

  • Experience and understanding of managing faculty and staff development initiatives preferred.

  • Knowledge of and experience with digital learning and advisement systems a plus.

  • Knowledge of and experience with evaluation and data analysis a plus.

  • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and student populations.

  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint) preferred.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW Manages curriculum development and operations of a College's specialized academic program under the direction of a senior administrator.

  • Implements and monitors a comprehensive academic program development plan; makes recommendations to improve department policies and procedures

  • Assists Director with outcome assessment and strategic planning to further develop program offerings

  • Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management

  • Serves as resource expert regarding program policies and procedures

  • May manage professional and/or clerical staff

  • May act on behalf of Director in his/her absence

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
