WSP seeks a well-rounded and experienced civil engineer with a minimum of 15 years of experience to manage and lead highway and site design projects. Candidate must be able to:

  • Define design criteria, perform calculations and provide quality construction documents and specifications according to agency and/or building code standards.

  • Coordinate and lead tasks with other engineering disciplines on a variety of small and large projects in the NY/NJ area.

  • Be responsible for preparation of feasibility studies, design reports, quantity take-offs and construction cost estimates.

  • Train and mentor staff.

  • Assist department manager with staff assignments and business development.

  • Attend project meetings with clients and perform field investigations.

  • Communicate effectively.

  • Work both independently and as a team with other engineers on project tasks.

  • Think critically and solve problems.

  • Lead and/or provide support for project proposals and cost estimates.

  • Attend professional engineering society functions.

Job Requirements

Candidate must have a minimum of 15 years of experience managing, designing and preparing construction contract documents for local roadways, highways and access roads for site development and transportation projects. Candidate must be/have:

  • Experience with public information meetings and public hearings including the environmental review processes.

  • Experience with designing airport access and frontage roadways.

  • Experience coordinating new design and the relocation of roadway and site utilities.

  • Experience leading construction support services.

  • Experience working with contractors and design-build projects.

  • Experience obtaining approvals and permits with local agencies.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.

  • Experience tracking and managing project schedules and budgets.

Education Required:

  • Candidate must have BS degree in Engineering.

  • Candidate must have a NYS Professional Engineering License.
