Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Senior Project Manager for immediate employment in the Buildings + Places NY Metro Architecture group of our New York City office. The Senior Project Manager works directly with the AECOM Program Manager and Owner/Client/Stakeholders to ensure project and program objectives are met. The successful candidate will demonstrate an affinity for maintaining and delivering multiple projects on time and within budgets while establishing and maintaining excellent client relations. As part of a team, the manager will oversee the successful delivery of simultaneous project initiation, planning, design and construction projects related to the Owner's design and construction programs including commercial and lab interior fit-outs and new construction. The manager will be the day-to-day contact with the Owner/Client (potentially spending significant time at their offices) through all phases of project delivery to help establish scope, schedules and budgets, develop resource and delivery plans and lead/coordinate with AECOM designers, architects, engineers and consultants in delivering the design and production documentation. Coordination with the client and contractor during construction will also be required. The manager will be responsible for the overall quality of work with program, project and task level financial accountability.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work directly with Owner/Stakeholders (both at the Owners and AECOM offices) to verify project objectives are met

  • Manage project/program activities and multiple priorities

  • Establish and execute project initiation procedures including scope definition, test-fits, technical due-diligence, budgets/estimates and schedules

  • Consistently coordinates with AECOM resources and Owner consultants to deliver design and construction projects

  • Manage daily staff assignments and participates in staffing meetings

  • Work closely with AECOM senior leadership through consistent communication, escalating important Owner/deliver issues

  • Analyze, monitor projects and program and prepare cost exposure reports and cash flow projections

  • maintaining comprehensive budgets

  • monitoring and maintaining schedules

  • Responsible for establishing project execution plans and implementing AECOM quality standards

  • Lead project meetings

  • Financial performance of the team and monitors staff sold time and work backlog

  • During the design management process, prepares estimates and value engineering analysis, peer reviews, and constructability reviews

  • Oversee the processing and approval of monthly invoices

  • Manage the preparation of periodic reports, and prepares monthly reports that discuss, in detail, the status of the project/program

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or a related field

  • 10+ years of architectural experience covering all aspects of building design or program management –concept, survey, design development, construction documents, construction administration

  • AECOM PM Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, highly motivated and detail oriented with a strong background managing complex client development programs

  • Well organized and adept at multi-tasking working with master agreements and multiple task orders

  • Ability to manage and or direct project staff

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/AutoCAD

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Candidate will be required to document and present work in a clear and concise manner

  • Excellent technical and relationship building skills are required

  • Must be able to work well with clients, staff and consultants including commuting to client offices

  • Valid Driver license

Preferred Qualifications

  • License in either Architecture or Engineering

  • Strong knowledge of American Disabilities Act/American Barriers Act

  • Management experience on BIM projects highly desirable

  • Experience working in large and complex projects

  • Experience with government agencies/projects
