American Express Senior Digital Product Owner in New York, New York

The Global Brand Strategy & Digital Team, Global Commercial Payments is a fast-paced, entrepreneurial team leading digital innovation at American Express. OPEN Forum (openforum.com) is a critical program that supports our brand promise and is built to provide insights and connections to help small business owners grow their business .

We are looking for an experienced Senior Digital Product Owner to join our team to help us transform OPEN Forum to deliver on our mission to help business owners get business done. The Sr. Digital Product Owner will oversee OPEN Forum's website product strategy, holistic user experience, design, research, and development partnering with external partners, internal American Express groups and technical systems. The candidate must possess an advanced understanding of digital product development, project management tools, and flexibility to lead diverse and dynamic teams to deliver balanced integrated digital solutions. The successful candidate will use their superior problem solving skills, business acumen, and excellent relationship building skills to act as a strong product owner for the team.

Core Responsibilities: include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and champion digital product strategy and roadmap in collaboration with key internal external partners.

  • Continue to drive innovation and value for the OPEN Forum user.

  • Define and create the end-to-end digital journey from OPEN Forum to OPEN products and solutions.

  • Confidently articulate Forum’s vision and create a compelling business case for a specific approach or solution.

  • Manage the full product development and management life cycle from ideation to execution.

  • Lead a cross-functional team of engineers and designers across the internal American Express organization as well as agency partners.

  • Leverage data and customer insights to determine hypotheses and drive the product road map.

  • Advocate across American Express internally and externally: building relationships and enhancing the value the product brings to American Express’s Brand.

  • Ensure the ideal holistic user experiences across all Forum touch points.

  • Practice and educate team on product management best practices and innovation or new technologies.

  • Have a contagious passion for digital products & innovation.

  • Experience with financial management of a product.

  • Adept at vendor, partner, and contract negotiations.

  • Manage legal review submissions.

  • Manage and execute email programs, marketing, and brand campaigns as required.

  • Have good understanding of SEO best practices and technological impact of organic search traffic and site structure.

  • 4 years of experience in digital product development or management, with an emphasis on website development.

  • Proven ability to inspire and collaborate with internal and external partners.

  • Proven track record of executing digital products from ideation to execution.

  • Strong visual design, brand and user experience instincts.

  • Strong understanding of web platforms and CMS systems, and their strengths and differences.

  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams, including creative, technical & functional resources.

  • Experience leveraging data and customer insights to drive decisions.

  • Strong communication and project management skills.

  • Proven self starter who can navigate through ambiguity and facilitate decision making.

  • Proactively identifies project issues/risks and leads resolution with calm.

  • Ability to clearly communicate project issues and proactively offer resolution.

  • Understanding of agile development and scrum teams.

  • General understanding of and experience with APIs.

  • Experience managing agency scopes, invoices, and overall financial health of a project.

  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Confluence, Aha! and Jira, and Word, Excel, PowerPoint/Keynote.

  • Familiarity with content management systems and online communities and community management is a plus.

  • Understanding of major analytics platforms and ability to leverage data to help drive product decisions.
