Position Description:

The Quantitative Analyst will play an integral role in a wide range of analytic projects: - Understand business challenges and formulate efficient analytic solutions - Design analytic frameworks using various quantitative techniques such as dynamic financial analysis, statistical modeling, and optimization algorithms - Work closely with actuarial and catastrophe modeling teams to monitor profitability, risk concentration, and to develop new exposure analytics - Develop new tools and processes necessary to support Property & Special Risks Underwriting - Document and present technical processes, methodologies and results Desired Qualities: * Ability to work independently and think critically * Solid understanding of fundamentals of stochastic loss modeling * Clear and effective communication * Strong attention to details * Excellent time-management skills and multi-tasking under pressure * Drive to solve problems and self-motivated learning

Position Requirements:

Technical Qualifications: * PhD or master’s degree in statistics, operations research, engineering, actuarial science, computer science, mathematics, or economics * Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools * Solid understanding of data management using relational database management systems (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Netezza, or comparable systems) * Proficient in Structured Query Language, with experience in using SQL for solving business problems. * Proficient in using R or Python (or other scripting languages) for data transformation and automation orchestration * 3-5 years of insurance/reinsurance experience
