Zurich American Insurance Company International Practice Lead, Site Environmental in New York, New York

Zurich (New York, NY) seeks International Practice Lead, Site Environmental responsible for building out Zurich’s international program proposition and book. Specific responsibilities include: establishing best practices to meet Zurich’s IPZ requirements; holding regular meetings of IPZ certified underwriters; helping find a compliant and most appropriate international structure for new deals; reviewing all IPZ quotes before issuance to enable them to write international environmental business; generating business/premiums by writing domestic and/or international accounts; providing subject matter expertise for international environmental programs and customers; diagnosing and developing recommendations to solve unique business unit and customer problems; measuring exposure and analyzing risk in order to provide appropriate coverage that meets the organization´s risk and compliance processes; negotiating terms & conditions and close deals with domestic or multinational companies and their brokers; building relationships with customers and brokers by handling a range of queries; advising senior management on appropriate coverage given to customers; proactively seeking renewal and new account opportunities; completing detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities; cross-selling other lines of business to increase product density with the account; participating in sales team meeting as related to assigned brokers and/or territory; and managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to effective date. Position requires frequent travel within the United States.

Position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business Administration, Environmental Studies, or similar environmental field, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, as a Liability Underwriter, or similar underwriting position. Specific experience must include at least 5 years of experience in each of the following: underwriting or market facing area for liability with focus on international insurance programs; international underwriting; developing policy language supporting manuscript policies; reading and interpreting financial metrics; making decisions based on data analysis including pricing model and rate change review; and delivering presentations on material including international program structures and pollution legal liability coverages. Additionally, experience must include at least 2 years of experience in each of the following: environmental liability underwriting; reading and interpreting environmental engineering reports including Phase Is, Phase IIs and other detailed site assessments; and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must be willing to travel frequently within the U.S..
