CUNY Business Data and Reporting Analyst, Levels 2 - 4 (Provisional) - Two Vacancies in New York, New York
Under supervision, provides and/or oversees expert end-user support by proficiently and accurately inputting, auditing, and reporting on information in CUNYfirst (i.e., PeopleSoft). CUNYfirst is the City University of New York's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Oracle/PeopleSoft system used to capture and maintain the University's student administration, human resources and finance functions.
This position differs from an Information Technology position in that an incumbent in an Information Technology position provides hardware support, software programming and networking, systems planning, and/or technological troubleshooting while a Business Data and Reporting Analyst is a highly skilled end-user of CUNYfirst. There are 4 levels of this title. Related duties may be assigned as needed.
Levels 1 and 2 are non-exempt from FLSA. Levels 3 and 4 are exempt from FLSA.

The Graduate Center (GC) is the principal doctorate-granting institution of the City University of New York (CUNY). Reporting to the Director of HR Operations, with some latitude for independent initiative and judgment, the Business Data and Reporting Analyst (Level 2-4), performs a broad range of HR information systems projects while exercising confidentiality, discretion, and attention to detail. The incumbents will learn and apply Human Resources policies and applicable contract provisions necessary to develop and maintain systematized operations. The level of the position will be determined based on candidate’s responsibilities, experience and qualifications. There are two vacancies for this position.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Reviews CUNYfirst audit and/or PAYSERV reports for four business units and manages data clean up;
Manages the content of the HR web site and the content of multiple electronic communication systems such as digital signage and list servs; - Responsible for the maintenance of timekeeping system including troubleshooting and data entry;
Assists in managing the administration of CUNYfirst including assigned security roles for HR and access roles for the community;
Prepares and oversees formal campus CUNYfirst user training;
Reviews source documents for completeness and accuracy; resolves and corrects errors or inconsistencies;
Coordinates and manages the conversion of legacy systems to new systems including data cleaning and archiving;
Conducts testing of data and applications following system upgrades include troubleshooting and participating in User Acceptance Testing (UAT);
Responsible for database design and administration including creating query reports and internal data audits;
Assists timekeepers in the organization, data entry, tracking, monitoring and reconciling employees’ time records;
Generates reports from multiple data sources such as CUNYfirst/HCM system and NYS Payroll system (PayServ);
Serves as the campus CUNYfirst user subject matter expert;
Drafts, recommends, and implements changes to college processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness in using CUNYfirst;
Troubleshoots and reports problems with office equipment, computers and software to the help desk and/or vendors and follows-up as needed;
Acts as liaison with IT team in troubleshooting, installation, rollouts, scheduling and training of system upgrades;
Represents the campus at University CUNYfirst meetings; acts on behalf of the Director of HR Operations in her absence - Level 4 Only;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Possession of a High School Diploma or GED.
Demonstrated English language proficiency, including the ability to speak, read, write, and understand English well enough to meet minimally acceptable performance standards set for the job tasks.
One (1) year of related full-time experience utilizing PeopleSoft computer software technology. CUNY considers full-time experience to be 35 hours per week. Experience that is less than full-time and more than 20 hours per week can be prorated at 50% (e.g., two month's related work experience at 20-35 hours per week equate to one month's full-time related work experience.)
This title has four levels. To qualify for Levels 2 - 4, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required. A preferred candidate should have:
Working knowledge of Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) such as PeopleSoft.
Proficiency with MS SQL and Oracle database.
Strong project management skills.
Experience working in higher education or public/non profit sector
Experience with designing and maintaining websites;
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical issues.
Extensive knowledge of HR operations including information systems (HRIS) and time and leave policies and procedures.
Experience in developing and presenting information to a large audience.
Some supervisory experience.
New Hire: Level 2 - $45,464* Level 3 - $59,013* Level 4 - $73,285*
Incumbent: Level 2 - $51,374 Level 3 - $66,710 Level 4 - $82,813
- This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression in effect for the first 24 months of employment only.
