Advertised Summary Job Description

The Associate Director is an integral part of a dynamic fundraising team. Working closely with the Director of Class Giving, the incumbent manages a fast-growing leadership giving society at the College, the Alumnae Legacy Circle. In addition, the Associate Director manages a portfolio of alumni prospects and coordinates the fundraising efforts of 10-12 classes, including two reunion classes.


A.Working closely with the Director of Class Giving, the incumbent will manage all aspects of the Alumnae Legacy Circle and ensure that the group grows steadily on an annual basis. The Associate Director will develop and implement a strategic plan that will focus on acquisition and retention strategies, and he/she will take the lead in setting a comprehensive marketing and stewardship plan. The incumbent will also actively work on prospecting and recruiting members. He/she will serve as the principle point of contact for this group and will work closely with MGOs and PGOs to grow the group.

B. The incumbent will manage a portfolio of leadership annual fund donors from classes 1984-1994. He/she will conduct a minimum of 100 personal visits annually to cultivate and solicit prospects and close gifts. In addition, the Associate Director will manage the fundraising efforts of the 25th and 30th reunion committees.

C. The Associate Director will manage and provide leadership to the Development Assistant for the Class Giving team. He/she will coach and evaluate the performance of the Development Assistant and support them in their professional development.

D. All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Bachelor's degree or its equivalent required. 3 years of related experience required.

Strong writing, communication, interpersonal and organization skills required and working knowledge of personal computers necessary. Ability to work independently and as part of a team essential.

Position will require many evening and weekend assignments and possible travel.

Experience in fundraising and managing alumni volunteers in a higher education setting preferred.
