About Equities Electronic Trading The Electronic Trading group is responsible for handling algorithmic trading and smart routing orders for both internal (desk) flow and external client flow directly routed onto our platform. We work in concert with the ATS and external connectivity groups to deliver seamless solutions.

Role Purpose Our group supports Barclays’ Electronic Trading and Quantitative Prime Services businesses, including smart order routing, DMA, and intelligent order controls. This is a key development role in the strategic smart routing and algorithmic trading technology stack. • Assist in the design and development (as part of team) working on our new strategic smart order router and algorithmic trading platform • Add new functionality, work with the product team, and provide support on the existing LMX platform • Help to bridge market access between the strategic Cash Architecture teams and the Electronic Trading technology and business teams

Key Accountabilities The SOR/Algo development team is responsible for designing and implementing the next-generation smart order routing and algorithmic trading infrastructure, as well as working with the SMAD teams for implementation of new trading strategies. We work to integrate closely with the new strategic order management system stack, and have a very strong focus on low-latency coding and efficiency for maximum performance and best execution. • Design and develop industrial-level high-quality, low-latency smart order routing and algorithmic trading frameworks and business logic code • Comprehensive understanding of business analysis and documentation requirements • Critical understanding of the emphasis on support for failover and redundancy • Work with other teams on software integration projects and to resolve issues impacting our business • Ability to work in and influence global teams for project-oriented work • Ability to build consensus within groups to move in the strategic direction • Adhere to best practices for software development at large and those within our team • Investigate production issues and work with stakeholders to clarify requirements • Strong comprehensive skills to analyze submitted code and infer issues • Strong written and oral communications skills

Stakeholder Management and Leadership Our team works closely with the product and quant groups in design and delivery, with strong focus from the business stakeholders. • Face off to product/business representatives • Face off to market risk and compliance representatives • Face off with quant/research teams for design work • Working with Electronic Trading (primary), other Equities/Derivs trading desks (secondary)

Person Specification Basic Qualifications: • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other analytical field • 6 years of Java/C and/or programming experience • 6 years experience working in high volume, real-time platforms such as algorithmic trading, automated market making, connectivity or market data ticker plants • 5 years experience in financial market with knowledge of Equities market microstructure

Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in developing high-performance smart order routing and algorithmic trading systems • Experience in developing high-performance low-latency code • Equities market structure knowledge • Strong business-level influence and communication skills • Strong interpersonal skills to lead teams on a project basis • Operational knowledge to work with the quant teams • Ability to work in a fast paced, time critical team environment • Strong problem-solving, analytical, technical, troubleshooting, and research skills • Ability to work in a fast paced, time critical team environment • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal • Self-motivated; demonstrate problem solving, solution-focused attitude • Strong ownership focus • Strong Linux skills • Strong Java skills • Strong work ethic and adherence to SDLC best practices • Ability to work within a large enterprise cooperatively, to deliver to a specific business desire while enhancing the corporate environment as a whole
