Hanesbrands Inc. Associate Apparel Designer II- Women's Activewear - New York, NY in New York City, New York

Responsible for providing design assistance for Women's Activewear. Responsibilities include research of competitor and related products, assisting in the development of product specifications, and research of fashion color trends on a seasonal basis. Responsible for designing a category.


Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities
* I nterpret, with mentor, design concepts from design development to potential production.
* Fit with mentor, including determining quality of fit for cut and sewn garments
* Manage projects and adhere to a seasonal PD calendar
* Shop the market (trends/fashions)
* Demonstrate creative ability interpreting concept into prototypes
* Responsible for designing a category
* Accountable for maintaining all line sheets
* Responsible for creating tech packs
* Prepare presentation boards

With an increasing degree of independence, continue to:
* Provide new product research and development projects
* Research current trends, color, fabrics and sports related products
* Coordinate design and technical efforts with supervisor for fashion product lines. (piece goods, trimming, design procedures and specifications)
* Establish initial product specifications
* Research raw materials and trims as directed by supervisor
* Design and prepare trend, color, and style boards for presentation to Senior Management and outside accounts.
* Provide assistance with logo/graphic development, print/stripe development and seasonal board presentations.
* Recognize and evaluate fit criteria
* Design creative and focused visual presentations


Minimum Education and Experience Required:

* BA/BS Degree required with 5-6 years experience OR
* AA Fashion Degree with 7-8 years of equivalent experience

Years of experience
* 5+ years in the industry required including women's activewear experience

Required Travel Must be free to travel domestically

Special Skills
* General knowledge of sports and active apparel
* Excellent communication skills across all management levels
* Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to work in a team-environment
* Superior computer skills-Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design, Word, Excel
