The New York Foundling Family Therapist in Brooklyn, New York

  • Work directly with discharge resource and/or children who have been placed in foster care, their biological families, and the foster parents caring for them.

  • Provide individual, family and/or group counseling and parenting coaching to an average caseload of 10-12 families.

  • Complete mandated contacts, home visits and outreach in a timely manner.

  • Conduct assessments, including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses.

  • Complete all necessary paperwork including Family Assessment Service Plans, Progress Notes, and Monthly Program Statistics within necessary time frames.

  • Engage key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.

  • Implement problem conceptualization, treatment planning, intervention implementation, and outcome review and strategy revision procedure using the treatment model's analytic process.

  • Arrange and participate in team meetings on cases to coordinate services for clients.


Educational Requirements:

  • BA/BS required

  • Master degree Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related subject area. preferred. Bilingual a plus.

Preferred Experience:

  • 1 years’ experience providing crisis management skills

  • 1 years’ experience with social skills assessment and intervention

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Understanding of and enthusiasm for the TFCO model

  • Strong organizational skills and communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to function in a team setting
