FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Lehman College campus is located in Bronx, New York and is a Senior College within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Lehman is the only four-year public college in the Bronx and is recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution. The college serves mainly undergraduate students preparing them for employment, the professions and further study. The teaching load is 21 hours (roughly 5 courses) per year. In addition to teaching, faculty at Lehman are active in research, scholarship and creative works. Service to the college, university and community is part of the mission as is a clear commitment to student engagement including advisement. Teaching is reduced for junior faculty over the first five years for scholarly development and all faculty are actively encouraged to seek external funding. Opportunities are available for faculty development and travel awards. Lehman College and CUNY internal funding is available through competitive grants for scholarship support.

The Department of Mathematics at Lehman College invites applications for a tenure-track professorship beginning Fall 2018. The successful candidate will be expected to have an active research program, teach undergraduate/graduate level courses, and provide service to the department, university, and community.

Applicants with research interests in all Mathematical disciplines will be considered. The department especially encourages applications from candidates in the areas of Statistics, Probability, Financial Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Numerical Analysis, Ordinary Differential Equations, and Partial Differential Equations.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor: Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

For Instructor: Master's degree in area(s) of expertise and active progress toward a Doctorate, or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Preference will be given to those with at least three years of post-doctoral experience and/or those with a demonstrated ability to develop undergraduate/graduate programs in applied mathematical fields.
